Part 2, 2026, The Year of Our Lord

Part 2, 2026, The Year Of Our Lord

Tuesday January 13, 2026

Matthew 6:9-13 NKJV In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. [10] Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. [11] Give us this day our daily bread. [12] And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. [13] And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

  1. The Lord will have His way this year.

  • In one sense, God is effectively putting us in our place this year. Our doting Father is saying to His pampered children, “Enough! My turn to speak!”

Job 38:1-3 NKJV Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: [2] "Who is this who darkens counsel By words without knowledge? [3] Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me.

Acts 17:30 NKJV Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.

  • In another sense, God is asking His people to rest, because He is ready to work.

  • There will be battles, but they will not be fought by us, but the Lord.

Exodus 14:13, 14“Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.

The Lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace.”

Isaiah 30:15 In returning and rest shall you be saved,

In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”

1 Samuel 17:47 NKJV Then all this assembly shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD's, and He will give you into our hands."

2 Chronicles 20:15 The battle is not yours but the Lord’s.

Psalm 46:10 ESV "Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"

2. The year of the Lord will be a year of great perplexity.

  • The Lord will do strange things this year and it will take great humility, relying on the Holy Spirit to keep up with Him.

1 Corinthians 2:11-13 NLT No one can know a person's thoughts except that person's own spirit, and no one can know God's thoughts except God's own Spirit. [12] And we have received God's Spirit (not the world's spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. [13] When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit's words to explain spiritual truths.

  • Whenever God chooses to move in this way, everybody is perplexed.

1 Corinthians 1:20  So where is the wise? Where is the scribe? And where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this age?

1 Corinthians 1:20 NLT So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world's brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish.

  • The ways of God and the moves of God are always perplexing because God operates at a level of wisdom, much higher than everybody else’s by orders of magnitude.

Just when men get comfortable with the ways of God, just when humanity thinks it has God figured out and can predict His next move, pronto, God does a strange thing, unexpectedly.

Isaiah 64:3 NET When you performed awesome deeds that took us by surprise, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you.

Isaiah 64:1-4 NKJV Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down! That the mountains might shake at Your presence- [2] As fire burns brushwood, As fire causes water to boil- To make Your name known to Your adversaries, That the nations may tremble at Your presence! [3] When You did awesome things for which we did not look, You came down, The mountains shook at Your presence. [4] For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him.

  • Everytime God moves, everybody is perplexed.

Men are confused and discombobulated. What they thought was up, they will find to be upside down.

1 Corinthians 1:21-25 NIV For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know Him, God was through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. [22] The Jews demand signs and the Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Greeks, [24] but those whom God has called, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. [25] For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

  • Even angels are not immune to perplexity.

Angels echo the sentiments of the psalmist who asked,

What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? [5] For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. [6] You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, (Psalm 8:4-6)

  • The wisdom of God will be hidden from the gods of this age.

When they make their best move it always results in a Divine checkmate.

1 Corinthians 2:7-8 NLT No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God-His plan that was previously hidden, even though He made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. [8] But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord.

  • Even the prophets will need to behave differently this year.

This is not a year of casual use of the gift.

Prophets will need to go up on their watch and wait, perchance God will speak.

Those who are careless will hear about the deeds of the Lord from CNN, after the fact, and not from the Lord ahead of time.

Habakkuk 2:1-3 NKJV I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected. [2] Then the LORD answered me and said: "Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. [3] For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

3. This is not a year to tell God, but a year to ask God.

  • In previous years, we requested, and God listened.

  • This is not so much a year to request, as it is a year to heed.

  • This year, the prayers that will receive quick answers will not be those that tell God what we want, but those that ask Him what is on His mind.

Luke 11:1-4 NKJV Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples." [2] So He said to them, "When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. [3] Give us day by day our daily bread. [4] And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one."

  • When Jesus taught prayer, He addressed not only how to pray, but also what to pray for; medium and content; form and substance.

  • Up until now, our prayers have expressed what we want. Now our prayers will reveal who we love.

Psalm 40:7-8 ESV Then I said, "Behold, I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me: [8] I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart."

Romans 8:26-28 ESV Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. [27] And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. [28] And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

  • This is not a year of negotiation, but a year of instruction.

In previous times, the Lord tolerated and even invited negotiations and dialogue.

Isaiah 1:18 ESV "Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

Isaiah 43:26 ESV Put me in remembrance; let us argue together; set forth your case, that you may be proved right.

  • This year, God will speak and require us to listen.

Isaiah 30:21 NKJV Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.

Psalm 25:12 NLT Who are those who fear the LORD? He will show them the path they should choose.

Isaiah 30:21 ESV And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.

  • This is a year to sharpen our hearing by paying closer attention to the Lord than ever before.

Habakkuk 2:1 ESV I will take my stand at my watchpost and station myself on the tower, and look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint.

Since we know God is ready to speak, we had better positioned ourselves to listen, like Mary and not be all about business as usual, like Martha. We must make and keep our appointments with God. We must fight to make time for God this year because distractions will be plenty..

  • Character the same, conduct not the same.

It will be a great error to try to predict God’s move this year, based on what He has done in the past. When God says He is the same yesterday, today and forever, He is speaking of His character, not His actions. He does new things all the time, but they are always in alignment with His character. God will not telegraph His move this year, yet He will not leave His saints in the dark.

He will share with those of His saints who seek Him.

Job 29:4 NET just as I was in my most productive time, when God's intimate friendship was experienced in my tent,

Job 29:4 LSB As I was in the prime of my days, When the intimate counsel with God was over my tent,

Job 29:4 NLT When I was in my prime, God's friendship was felt in my home.

Amos 3:7 The Lord will do nothing except He reveals to His servants the prophets.

Psalm 25:14 The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, to them will He reveal His covenant.

  • This is a year to seek the Lord, more than ever before. This is a time of revelation, not a time of hiding.

Isaiah 55:6 NLT Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.
