Our Praise Honors God and puts the Spotlight Him
Our Praise Invites God’s Kingdom Power
Our Praise Stops the Advancement of Sin and evil
We were created to Praise and Glorify God
God created us ANEW in Christ Jesus so that we would praise and glorify Him.
Our salvation is to bring praise and glory to God.
Our salvation points to God’s incredible wealth of mercy and kindness we have received through Christ. God showed mercy by saving us from the punishment we deserve and, in His kindness, while we were yet sinners, He sent Jesus to pay the price for our sins, He sent Jesus to rescue us from darkness and to reconciled back to Him.
Ephesians 1: 12 -13
12 God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. 13 And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own[d] by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. 14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.
1 Peter 2:9 -10 NIV
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”
Why We Praise God
God has commanded everything that He has created to PRAISE HIM (Psalm 148, 150)
It is good to Praise God (Psalm 147:13)
God has commanded everything that He has created to PRAISE HIM
Psalm 148
Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from the heavens! Praise him from the skies!2 Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all the armies of heaven!3 Praise him, sun and moon! Praise him, all you twinkling stars!4 Praise him, skies above! Praise him, vapors high above the clouds!5 Let every created thing give praise to the Lord, for he issued his command, and they came into being.6 He set them in place forever and ever. His decree will never be revoked.
7 Praise the Lord from the earth, you creatures of the ocean depths,8 fire and hail, snow and clouds,[a] wind and weather that obey him,9 mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars,10 wild animals and all livestock, small scurrying animals and birds,11 kings of the earth and all people, rulers and judges of the earth,12 young men and young women, old men and children.
13 Let them all praise the name of the Lord. For his name is very great; his glory towers over the earth and heaven!14 He has made his people strong, honoring his faithful ones— the people of Israel who are close to him.
Praise the Lord!
Psalm 150
1 Praise the Lord.
Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,4 praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe,5 praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.
Psalm 18 vs.3
I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
and I have been saved from my enemies.”
Psalm 145: 21
My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, And all flesh shall bless His holy name Forever and ever.
If we cannot think of any reason to praise God, we ought to praise Him just because He is worthy of our praise,
We don't wait to praise God before that situation changes and all conditions are favorable,
We Praise Him because His is worthy of our Praise, because we know Him.
King Jehoshaphat Praised God before the Batlle. --- 2 Chronicles 20: 21-22
Paul and Silas praised God while they were still in chains in prison --- Acts 16: 25 -26
Jesus Christ gave thanks to God before feeding the multitude with 5 loves and 2 Fish ---- Matthew 14: 19 -20
Jesus Christ gave thanks to God before raising Lazarus – John 11:41
Matthew 14:19 -20 NIV
“Bring them here to me,” he said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.
Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied”.
John 11: 41 NKJV
“So, they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me. 42 You always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people standing here, so that they will believe you sent me.”
Praise Honors God and Puts the Spotlight Him
What is Praise?
Hebrew word for Praise is Halal. Hallelujah is derived from HALAL
The primary meaning of Halal in Hebrew is “to praise," "to boast," "to shine,".
What Does It to mean to Praise God?
When we praise God, we put the “SHINE” on God, we boast about Him.
When we praise, we are praying, speaking to God
When we praise, we are testifying of God’s character and attributes.
When we praise through Psalms, hymns and singing, the Word of God is being shared
We are saying “Now it is all about you and no one else”
Praising God puts all attention on Him because He is worthy of our Praise.
No one else deserves our praise. The more we put the spotlight on Him, the more God is exalted, the more He is lifted up, the more God’s light shines on us and through us, the brighter we become in His presence.
We now take the light and go forth to shine it for all to see, so that the light of Christ in us attracts people. People will want to know what is it that makes you the way we are and that will our chance to tell them about Jesus, our chance put the SHINE on Jesus our chance to “Sing His praises to their hearing.
This will be our chance to let them know that it’s all JESUS and nobody else.
The light that comes to us in God’s presence, destroys, expels, banishes and sends away all DARKNESS.
Matthew 5 vs.16
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Let all that we do be done with the mindset of “May I bring Glory to my father …. This is for God and For His Kingdom”
Psalm 42: 8 NLT
By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life.
Psalm 146 1-2 NLT
1 Praise the Lord!
Let all that I am praise the Lord.2 I will praise the Lord as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.
Psalms 146 1-2 NKJV
1 Praise[a] the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!2 While I live, I will praise the Lord;I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.”
What happens when we are Praise God?
When We praise ----We teach, share God’s Word
Colossians 3: 16 -
16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Singing and praising is not just about our personal worship, praising God includes teaching, admonishing and development gratitude to our God.
The messianic Psalms clearly speak of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, his coming, his death, and His resurrection – Psalm 22, 16,110
There are so many hymns and Christian songs that are scripture based. They tell the gospel in such a way that the word is God is easily shared in a manner that helps memorization.
When we praise God ----- We highlight our relationship with God. God is a relational God.
In the Garden of Eden, God cherished the relation he had with Adam & Eve so much so He would come down in the cool of the evening to fellowship with Adam and eve.
God is all about relationship,
Tell Him who He is to you
Ps 18: 1-3
“I love you, Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer.
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield[b] and the horn[c] of my salvation, my stronghold.
I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
and I have been saved from my enemies.”
When we praise God ---- We Ascribe to God the honor that is due to Him
Psalm 29:1 -2
Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to his name.
worship the Lord in the splendor of his[a] holiness.”
When our focus is on exalting Him, lifting Him up, giving Him adoration we are saying “Lord it is all about YOU. And I am here to please you.”
When we praise God ----- Remind Him of His Greatness and Goodness
Praise is testifying of God’s characters and attributes
Psalm 147: 12 - 20
Glorify the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!13 For he has strengthened the bars of your gates and blessed your children within your walls.14 He sends peace across your nation and satisfies your hunger with the finest wheat.15 He sends his orders to the world— how swiftly his word flies!16 He sends the snow like white wool; he scatters frost upon the ground like ashes.17 He hurls the hail like stones.[a] Who can stand against his freezing cold?18 Then, at his command, it all melts. He sends his winds, and the ice thaws.19 He has revealed his words to Jacob, his decrees and regulations to Israel.20 He has not done this for any other nation; they do not know his regulations.
Psalm 103 vs. 1-5 NKJV
Bless the Lord, O my soul.
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s
Psalm 103 1-5 NLT
A psalm of David.
1 Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.2 Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.3 He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.4 He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.5 He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
This is a deliberate act on David’s part not to suffer spiritual forgetfulness.
He is calling on his soul to remember the greatness and goodness of God. He is testifying of God’s greatness
David remembers that God is a God who heals, forgives, profits, and protects.
David testifies to God’s lovingkindness, God’s mercies
David is saying Lord you are my ALL in ALL. David is putting the spotlight on GOD
Isaiah 25 vs 1-4 NKJV
O Lord, You are my God.
I will exalt You,
I will praise Your name,
For You have done wonderful things.
Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.
2 For You have made a city a ruin,
A fortified city a ruin,
A palace of foreigners to be a city no more.
It will never be rebuilt.
3 Therefore the strong people will glorify You.
The city of the [a]terrible nations will fear You.
4 For You have been a strength to the poor,
A strength to the needy in his distress,
A refuge from the storm,
A shade from the heat.
For the blast of the terrible ones is like a storm against the wall.
Praises Invites the Kingdom of God and His Power
Psalm 22: 3 - 5 NKJV
But You are holy,
Enthroned in the praises of Israel.
Our fathers trusted in You.
They trusted, and You delivered them.
They cried to You and were delivered.
They trusted in You and were not ashamed.
Psalm 22: 3 -5 KJV
3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
INHABIT
The primary Hebrew word "inhabit" is Yashab (יָשַׁב), which means to dwell, sit, remain, or settle in a place.
God is looking for those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth.
Sincere true worship and praise Invites the presence of God.
God is everywhere, at all times, but in true Praise God shows up in remarkable ways.
When we praise Him, He does not just come and leave, His presence stays with us, and we grow in a deeper relationship with Him.
Once this truth sinks in, we will never be afraid. When you find yourself feeling lonely jump up and sing praise to God.
This truth will also assure us of His powerful presences to save us from any kind of attack, notice how the words Praise, trusted, delivered are all tied together in the verse above.
THY KINGDOM COME
We must also understand that where God is present, His Kingdom Power is also present.
Our Praise enthrones His kingdom when God is praised. We are saying “Lord Thy Kingdom Come” establish your rule here and now, and God comes and manifests His power according to His Will.
Matthew 6 :9
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
OUR CALL for 2026
This year we are inviting God’s Kingdom to Come and be enthroned, and this happens when we offer true spirit filled praise and worship.
This year 2026, we are going to submit ourselves and partner with God in whatever He plans to do this year and hence forward
Our praise invites and welcomes God's kingdom and His purposes to be established in our hearts, our plans, homes, schools, businesses, our country USA, His church
Let us Praise God this year like we’ve never praised Him before, let us take our minds of SELF and focus on HIM.
Praise God with Understanding
Psalm 47: 6- 7 NKJV
“Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
7 For God is the King of all the earth.
Sing praises with understanding.”
We Praise God with the Understanding that our goal is to Glorify Him
In Hebrew “Understanding is translated as “SAKAL” meaning prudent, cautious, intelligent”
We will praise cautiously, not casually but with awe and prudence. Not with ulterior motives
Proverbs 21 :16
“A man who wanders from the way of understanding
Will rest in the assembly of the dead.”
Lack of understanding leads to spiritually dead. It leads to a disconnect from the spirit of God.
We are NOT to lean on our understanding, but we are to acknowledge and trust God and He will order our steps.
We will praise God with deeper understanding this year, to make it all about God.
Do not forget to Praise God
God does not like it when we forget to praise Him.
Psalm 50: 22-23 (NKJV)
23 Now consider this, you who forget God,Lest I tear you in pieces,And there be none to deliver:23 Whoever offers praise glorifies Me;And to him who orders his conduct arightI will show the salvation of God.”
Psalm 50: 22 -23 (NLT)
“Repent, all of you who forget me,
or I will tear you apart,
and no one will help you.
23 But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me.
If you keep to my path,
I will reveal to you the salvation of God.”
Praise Him to Stop the Advancement Sin
As we have determined this year is going to be ALL about God, there are times we are tempted to go back and do things the old way, slip back to what is comfortable for us.
The urge to want to do things God’s way is strong, but the determination is weak.
We have been promised great Grace, but also great testing and the temptation to give up may be strong because of the testing.
There are distractions everywhere.
The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
The thought of giving up flashes before us, because what God has told you to do seems hard.
Wickedness seems to be all around you, you are disappointed and hurt by people, you are feeling weary.
Praise helps in moments like this. When these attacks come against us, we turn it all to praising God.
Temptation to sin and to give in will soon disappear in the face of sincere powerful praise.
Praise will bring the glorious presence of Jesus, driving away the ungodly desires / thoughts, weakness and wickedness.
We must remain focused on God to make it all about Him this year.
Psalm 34 :1
A psalm of David, regarding the time he pretended to be insane in front of Abimelech, who sent him away
34 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.2 My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad.3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me,And let us exalt His name together.
David wrote this while he was a fugitive, fleeing from enemies demonstrating that we can default to PRAISE when persecution comes instead of turning fear or anxiety.
I Thessalonians 5: 16 - 18
“Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
The Word of God to us to Rejoice, is an instruction! Not an advice
WHY …
All that is going on leads to distractions from what God’s purpose and what He has planned for you. Cast all your cares on God.
If care is not taken these can lead to DIDID (study of Part 9 – Deception, Independence, Distraction, Indiscipline, Depression)
Praise is an act of the WILL. It is not just exuberance outburst of words.
It is a deliberate act to shift focus away from SELF and unto GOD!
It is an intentional declaration of thanksgiving to our father.
Our Father considers Thanksgiving a sacrifice especially during challenging times.
What we are implying is “While I don’t understand what’s going on, and I do not like … Yet I Trust you”
Hab 3: 17 – 18 NLT
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines;even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren;even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty,18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
Psalm 7: 17
“I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness
And sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.”
This is a choice, and God has given us GRACE to do and be all that He is calling us to do and to be in 2026.
As we have been told that this year is a year of GREAT GRACE. by the grace of God, it is going to be all about God and His purposes this year 2026.
God will help us, and God will give us the Will and desire to do it
Phil. 2 :13
“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”
When we make it all about God, He steps into that situation and fight our battles for us.
We Declare 2026 the Year of Our Lord with our Praise and we will bring Glory to HIM.
