The Coming of Our King

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 “For the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.”
Revelations 1:7 “Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him, and all the tribes of the earth will wail on account of Him. Even so. Amen.”
His arrival will leave no room for doubt: Jesus Christ is Lord of all.
The unbelievers will tremble at His coming
Revelations 6:15-17 “ Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks and the mountains, 16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
The believers will rejoice at His coming- it is our blessed hope
Titus 2:13 “waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ…
Revelations 21: 4 “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be nor more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
No tears
No death
No mourning
No crying
No pain
When Christ returns and the new earth is made, all sorrow and suffering will come to an end—they’ll be gone forever and never remembered again.
Isaiah 65:17-18 “Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore. 18 Be glad. Rejoice forever in my creation! And look! I will create Jerusalem as a place of HAPPINESS. Her people will be a source of JOY.”
Be ready!
Matthew 24:44 “Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
1 Peter 4:7 “The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers
Turning a deaf ear to the continual warnings to prepare for Christ’s return is a form of spiritual carelessness and recklessness.
The Bridegroom is Coming
Matthew 25:10-13 “But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. 11 Later, when the other 5 bridesmaids returned, they stood outside calling, ‘Lord, Lord! Open the door for us!’ 12 But he called back ‘believe me, I don’t know you!’ 13 So you must KEEP WATCH! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.”
Matthew 24:36-39;42-44 “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even in the angels in heaven or the Son Himself. Only the Father knows. 37 When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in the Noah’s day. 38 In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. 39 People didn’t realize what was going on until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.
42 So you, too, must KEEP WATCH! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. 43 Understand this: if a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. 44 You also must BE READY all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.”
Revelations 16:15 “Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed.”
A Prayer to Stay Ready for Christ’s Return
Heavenly Father,
We come before You with humble hearts, asking for Your help to stay awake, alert, and ready for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Help us to be like the five wise virgins—prepared, watchful, and filled with the oil of Your Spirit. Guard us from the distractions and idols that pull our hearts away from You. Teach us to keep our minds sober, our hearts undivided, and our eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
Lord, remove anything that dulls our spiritual senses. As Rev. Niyi is teaching, point out anything that is stunting our spiritual growth and keeping us from maturing in You. Break every attachment to what is temporary and draw us deeper into what is eternal. Let us not grow weary in doing good but rather, strengthen us to live each day with holy urgency and joyful expectation.
Be our source, our strength, and our fulfillment. Let nothing else take Your place. Fill our lamps with the oil of intimacy, obedience, and faith so that when the Bridegroom comes, we may rise with joy to meet Him.
Keep us faithful. Keep us focused. Keep us READY!
Amen.
Signs Of His Coming
Matthew 34:3-8 “Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to Him privately and said, “tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?” 4 Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, 5 for many will come in My name, claiming ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of war, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. 7 Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. 8 but all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to com”
Matthew 34:13 “But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”
Every day we are presented with either the narrow gate that is difficult a hard road less traveled, BUT leads to life, or the wide gate which is easy and comfortable but leads to destruction
Choose the hard way. Why? Because He is worthy!
Romans 5:3-5 “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us
Behavior of Men:
There is much wickedness in the last days – yet the righteous must remain set apart in every way and stay away from those who make a practice of sin.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 “You should know Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will only love themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!”
Romans 1:28-32 “They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil. Covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents 31 foolish, faithless, heartless ruthless. 32 Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.”
But you must remain faithful (2 Timothy 3:14)
What Will Happen When the King Returns:
Matthew 24:30-31 “And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the people of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send out His angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather His chosen ones from all over the world- from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.
The throne of grace is right now- but the throne of judgement is on the way.
Revelations 20: 11-13 “And I saw a great white throne and the One sitting on it. The earth and sky fled His presence. But they found no place to hide. 12 I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds.”

Hebrew 3:12-14 “Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. 13 You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today”, so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. 14 For if are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ. “
You must check your own heart so you do not drift away
Our King will slay all His enemies and a new earth and heavens will be established.
Zechariah 14:9 “And the Lord will be King over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord-His name alone will be worshipped.”
2 Peter 3:13 “But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth He has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.”
Revelations 21:3 “I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among His people! He will live with them, and they will be His people. God Himself will be with them.
In these last days, as the love of many grows cold and lawlessness abounds, we must not lose heart. Our Lord warned us that such times would come — days of deception, persecution, and great trials. Yet, He also called us to endure, to keep our lamps burning, and to remain faithful until the end. Though the path may be narrow and the journey hard, we hold fast to a blessed hope: the glorious return of King Jesus! He will come not as a suffering servant, but as the righteous King, to judge the earth and to gather His faithful ones.
James 5:7 “Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen.”
Conclusion:
Appear in glory
Resurrect and gather His people
Defeat evil and establish His kingdom
Bring final salvation, justice, and eternal life to believers
