Gifts of The Spirit-Fellow Helpers of the Church (Part 2)

Minister Juanita Garvin Graham
D) Why shouldn’t we have bragging rights?
Ephesians 2:1-10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
2. “We are signed, sealed and delivered by the function and purpose of the Holy Spirit to assist in the most important work of God in the earth and that is to win souls for Christ. We are the preachers, ministers, ambassadors and children of the MOST HIGH GOD. We are His representatives in the earth’s realm not just to get ourselves saved but others as well.!”
A. Sealed- John 6:27 Labor not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for Him hath God the Father SEALED.
B. 2 Corinthians 1:22 KJV - Who hath also SEALED us and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. (Earnest- a pledge or token given as the assurance of the fulfillment of a promise.) So, in this case the work the Holy Spirit does in our heart is a token and pledge of a perfect redemption and a heavenly inheritance. (2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV)
C. Ephesians 1:13 KJV – In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard in the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were SEALED with that Holy Spirit of promise.
C) WHY:
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
Romans 12
12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Warning to believers on proper assessment of oneself.
Rom 12:3-8 (Who we truly physically are to one another)
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether
10) prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
7 Or 11)ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that 12)teacheth, on teaching;
8 Or he that 13) exhorteth, on exhortation: he that 14) giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that 15) ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth 16) mercy, with cheerfulness.
4. The Expected Behavior of the Saints
A.) How should we act towards one another? Why?
Romans 12:9 -21
Let love be without dissimulation.
Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love;
in honor preferring one another;
11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
B.) 1 Peter 4 :1-14 KJV - Suffering in the flesh
4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
6 For this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part He is glorified.
