UNDERSTANDING THE ANOINTING Part 1

INTRO:

Today more than ever before, we in the church claim to be anointed. We talk a lot about the anointing. There have been countless prophetic messages about an increased outpouring of the anointing.

Yet at the same time, many people are walking away from the faith.

1500 pastors quit the ministry every month. Some are burnt out. Many are discouraged. Others are disillusioned. The fight of faith is real. In the fight of faith, many have lost so many battles, they have lost hope of an eventual victory.

Micah 7:8 says though I fall, I will rise again.

Proverbs 24:16 The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.

These developments raise the questions: How can we be so anointed and yet so defeated? Is it possible that we are not anointed as we think we are? Or is it the case that we simply do know have a correct understanding of the anointing? I trust the Lord that today’s teaching will help answer these questions and show us how to  rightly walk in the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

WHAT IT IS: The Presence of God

Acts 10:38; Exodus 33:15

WHAT IT IS FOR: To bring God’s kingdom to the earth; to show the world a foretaste of God’s coming rule on earth;

Every dealing of God with us as individuals is part of a grand Master plan for the advancement of His Kingdom. The anointing works for the express purpose of advancing the Kingdom of God.

The kingdom basileia is not speaking of a domain or a territory.  It is rather the authority, the rule and reign of God.

Matthew 4:17; Luke 4:43; 11:17-20,

The purpose of the anointing is not to make us feel good, even though it does. It's not merely to present us as approved of God, even though it does. It is to bring God's rule into our world, wherever we are.  The anointing is the Presence of God’s power, to enforce the will and authority of God.

Ecclesiastes 8:4 Where the word of the king is, there is power.

Deuteronomy 7:21 NLT —

 “No, do not be afraid of those nations, for the LORD your God is among you, and he is a great and awesome God.
