New Wine, Our Greatest Need in 2025
Introduction:
New Wine, Our Greatest Need in 2025
We have our ideas of what a good year should look like. We have expectations for every new year… plans, resolution, goals, etc. We all want this year to be better than last year. It is safe to say that we all want 2025 to be our best year yet.
God also has His own ideas. God also has. plans and goals for each new year. Though He lives out of time, in His dealings with man, God locks His move into seasons, dispensations. The Bible uses such terms as “fullness of time,” to express God’s timetable.
Galatians 4:4 Easy English Bible But when the time that God had decided arrived, he sent his Son into the world. A human mother gave birth to him. He was born a Jew, under the authority of God's Law.
Our goal in this series is to discover what God’s idea of a “Good Year” looks like;
We want to see how we can plug ourselves into His plans.
We want the Holy Spirit to give us grace, both to understand as well as to receive God’s best in 2025.
Reflection:
At the beginning of 2024 we received a prophetic word from the Lord that the year was going to be a year of separation of sheep from goats. Everything came to pass, even as the Lord foretold.
Prophetic Declaration:
This year, I hear the Lord say 2025 is a year of New Wine. He the Lord will release New Wine for His people.
That simple statement is very loaded.
When the Lord makes a promise, first we must receive it by faith.
After we receive it by faith, it is necessary for us to seek an understanding of that promise if we are to enjoy its full blessing.
For the past several weeks, I have been receiving a clearer understanding . It will take us at least a whole month to do justice to this very simple message.
New wine is a frequent promise of God.
Deuteronomy 11:14 LSB that I, Yahweh, will give the rain for your land in its season, the early and late rains, that you may gather in your grain and your new wine and your oil.
Isaiah 55:1-2 LSB “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk Without money and without cost. [2] “Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight your soul in richness.
Joel 2:19 LSB Then Yahweh will answer and say to His people, “Behold, I am going to send you grain, new wine, and oil, And you will be satisfied in full with them; And I will never again make you a reproach among the nations.
Wine represents abundance, joy, preservation, restoration, healing.
New Wine is a package deal to satisfy Man’s desire.
Abundance: Genesis 27:28 LSB
Now may God give you of the dew of heaven, And of the fatness of the earth, And an abundance of grain and new wine;
Proverbs 3:9-10 NKJV Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; [10] So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.
2. Joy: Psalm 104:15 ESV and wine to gladden the heart of man, oil to make his face shine and bread to strengthen man's heart.
Zechariah 10:7 ESV Then Ephraim shall become like a mighty warrior, and their hearts shall be glad as with wine. Their children shall see it and be glad; their hearts shall rejoice in the LORD.
3. Preservation: Isaiah 65:8 ESV Thus says the LORD: "As the new wine is found in the cluster, and they say, 'Do not destroy it, for there is a blessing in it,' so I will do for my servants' sake, and not destroy them all.
4. Restoration: Amos 9:14 LSB “Also I will restore the captivity of My people Israel, And they will rebuild the desolated cities and live in them; They will also plant vineyards and drink their wine And make gardens and eat their fruit.
Joel 2:23-25 NKJV Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the LORD your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain to come down for you- The former rain, And the latter rain in the first month. [24] The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. [25] "So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.
5. Healing: Luke 10:34 NLT Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him.
If you get what you want, make sure you do not miss out on what God wants for you.
God wants to give you your heart’s desire in 2025 but your heart’s desire is not God’s best for you.
God’s best for you is His heart’s desire for you, to be, to have, and to do… His purpose.
A person who gets what he wants but does not achieve God’s purpose will be a blessed-disappointment.
Resolve not to be a blessed-disappointment to God in 2025.
A blessed-disappointment is blessed and highly favored but he will frustrate the grace of God.
He will be blessed but he will not receive everything God has in store for him and therefore will not accomplish God’s purpose in blessing Him.
Esther was blessed and she did not frustrate God’s purpose.
A blessed-disappointment stops short of God’s best.
A blessed-disappointment is satisfied with the old wine.
A blessed-disappointment prioritizes immediate and temporal benefits over the eternal blessings that God is offering.
Esau, a blessed-disappointment, realized his loss, only after it was too late for any remedy.
It doesn't usually end well for blessed-disappointment.
Hebrews 6:7-8 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God; 8 but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.
Resolve not to be a blessed-disappointment to God in 2025.
God’s Desire in 2025 Is For The Body of Christ To Be Completely Filled with the Holy Spirit Like With New Wine .
We already have the Holy Spirit but we need to be filled.
Filled.. Not a mere buzz, not just tipsy but completely drunk with the Holy Spirit.
2025 will prove to be a most amazing year for those who will be so drunk with the Holy Spirit, they will totally LUI Living Under the Influence of the Holy Spirit.
His voice is the loudest in our ears.
His instructions will be clearer than ever before.
We will obey speedily, faster than we can explain.
Those who are still waiting for an explanation will miss the moment.
Under His influence, we will accomplish the impossible before realizing that it was impossible.
All over scriptures, there is a connection between being drunk with new wine and being filled with the Holy Spirit. They are often confused one for the other, and many times God will contrast being filled with wine against being full of the Holy Spirit.
Those who are full of the Spirit may be mistaken for drunk people, so God often forbade those set apart for Him, (Nazarites) to partake of strong drink in the case of Samson who was called to be a Nazarite, even his mother was instructed to avoid strong drinks before he was to be born.
Samson:
Judges 13:3-5 NLT The angel of the LORD appeared to Manoah's wife and said, "Even though you have been unable to have children, you will soon become pregnant and give birth to a son. [4] So be careful; you must not drink wine or any other alcoholic drink nor eat any forbidden food. [5] You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and his hair must never be cut. For he will be dedicated to God as a Nazirite from birth. He will begin to rescue Israel from the Philistines."
John the Baptist:
Luke 1:13-15 ESV But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. [14] And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, [15] for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.
Day of Pentecost: Acts 2:12-15 ESV
And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What does this mean?" [13] But others mocking said, "They are filled with new wine." [14] But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. [15] For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.
Peter seemed to be saying, “They are drunk quite alright, but not with new wine as you suppose.”
Ephesians 5:18 ESV And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
There are three dimensions of the Holy Spirit’s interaction with man.
There first is a dimension of the Holy Spirit being upon us. (Alighting, occasionally, on a particular person or place, for a short time, for a specific purpose.)
The second is the dimension of the Holy Spirit being in us. (Indwelling to varying levels of occupancy)
The third is the dimension of the Holy Spirit filling us completely. (Filled to saturation, completely filled to overflowing)
Saturate: cause (something) to become thoroughly soaked with liquid so that no more can be absorbed.
"the soil is saturated"
John 7:37-39 NKJV On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
The Holy Spirit will not merely be upon us, but He will be in us. He will not merely be in us, but we will be full of the Holy Spirit to the point there has to be an overflow. Miracles, signs and wonders will be the evidence of such overflow..
The 1st dimension:
This was the way the Holy Spirit moved before Jesus was glorified. We see this dimension all through the Old Testament and the early parts of the New Testament.
Though the lowest of the three dimensions, it is a very powerful experience. We see this kind of move in the lives of
Gideon (Judges 6:34),
Samson (Judges 14:6),
King Saul (1 Samuel 11:6),
David (1 Samuel 16:13),
Mary (Luke 1:35)
At this dimension and dispensation, the Holy Spirit came and went. He did not stay, except on Jesus, alone.
John 1:32-34 NKJV
And John bore witness, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. [33] I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.' [34] And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God."
The 2nd dimension:
Refers to a time when the Spirit of God would come upon men, and stay with them.
Joel 2:28-29 NKJV
"And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. [29] And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
John 14:16-17 NKJV
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever- 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him for He dwells with you and will be in you.
This is the promise of the Father of which Jesus spoke.
Acts 1:4-5 ESV
And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, "you heard from me; [5] for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."
The promise was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost.
Acts 1:8 NKJV
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
We are referring here to the Day of Pentecost after the Ascension of Jesus.
John 7:39 LSB
But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were going to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
The annual celebrations of Passover prefigured the real Passover, the killing of the real Passover Lamb, Jesus Christ.
The Pentecost prefigured the real Pentecost, when God's Spirit was poured out on all flesh as Joel prophesied.
“We know in part and we prophesy in part.”
This Old Testament prophecy was limited by the understanding of its recipients. They were familiar with the Holy Spirit alighting on occasion, upon a special person, so it must have blown their minds that the Holy Spirit would be poured out on all flesh. There was no way they could comprehend that the Holy Spirit would actually stay permanently in people.
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is a sign that we belong to Jesus.
Romans 8:9 NKJV
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
It is the mark of the New Covenant that God spoke of through Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 31:31-34 NLT
"The day is coming," says the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. [32] This covenant will not be like the one I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand and brought them out of the land of Egypt. They broke that covenant, though I loved them as a husband loves his wife," says the LORD. [33] "But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel after those days," says the LORD. "I will put my instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. [34] And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying, 'You should know the LORD.' For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already," says the LORD. "And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins."
The 3rd dimension:
This is the condition of being filled by the Holy Spirit. Using the analogy of wine, in the second dimension, we have had a taste, a good taste, but we are not yet drunk. In the third dimension though we are so full of the Spirit, we are like one who is completely drunk.
Ephesians 5:18 NKJV
And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
We have many instances of individuals who were full of the Holy Spirit like New Wine.
Luke 1:15 NLT
for he will be great in the eyes of the Lord. He must never touch wine or other alcoholic drinks. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even before his birth.
Luke 1:41 ESV
And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit,
Luke 1:67 ESV
And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying,
Luke 4:1 ESV
And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness
Acts 2:4 ESV
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 4:31 ESV
And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
Acts 7:55-56 ESV
But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. [56] And he said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."
Acts 11:24 NLT
Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and strong in faith. And many people were brought to the Lord.
Acts 13:9-12 ESV
But Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him [10] and said, "You son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, full of all deceit and villainy, will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord? [11] And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind and unable to see the sun for a time." Immediately mist and darkness fell upon him, and he went about seeking people to lead him by the hand. [12] Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had occurred, for he was astonished at the teaching of the Lord.
Acts 13:52 LSB
And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
3rd Dimension Must Be Renewed Not Maintained
This is a state we cannot stay in for long. We can’t handle it. We can’t function in a normal way at this point. But this is a state to which we must return from time to time. This is how we never run dry. This is how we get renewed daily.
2 Corinthians 4:16 NLT
That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.
This is the secret to longevity and vitality in the things of God. This is how we can walk and not grow weary, run and not faint. This is how we defy natural order. We are getting older, yet our eyes do not grow dim, neither does our strength abate.
Prophetic Declaration over 2025
God is ready to move by His Holy Spirit in spectacular ways in 2025, but we will need to be filled to saturation for us to see that move.
God will not do it alone, but in partnership with the body of Christ, or at least those among us who will thirst deeply and long for Him.
The alighting by the Holy Ghost will not be enough this year. To be indwelt by the Holy Spirit will be insufficient. Too many of us have the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in us and we do nothing.
This year, we will not be able to stay put even if we wanted to. The overflow will be too great.
Please make sure you do not miss this. Make sure you stay thirsty. Do not be satisfied with the old. God is doing a new thing with new wine.
God is going to be moving so quickly, many will only see a flash after He has gone past. But those who are eagerly watching and waiting, will not miss Him.
